Crusader Concept

Here is a concept for a story I've been writing for some time. The crusaders are a human military force and as such I wanted to incorporate some of the elements from the Knights Templar who are iconic representations of the crusades.

The armor itself is meant to be made of lightweight composite material, with lightweight undergarments to keep the overall weight of the gear down. Each soldier wears a standard environmental package which includes a helmet that can filter most hazardous environments as well as provide oxygen for short term durations in space. The gauntlets on each arm will be used to carry equipment or ammo depending on the need. For easy identification on the battlefield the armor's "cross" on the chest plate will be painted to represent rank.
